There’s this myth that in old Europe, the Fool was the only person permitted to mock the King or anyone else. In conjunction with this ahistoric truism, the pernicious myth, today, that stand up comedians or edgy jokesters are always truth-tellers or should be allowed all the space, all the absence of criticism, all the rope and no hanging, because the Fool is so important.
Sometimes, the Fool is the Ten of Swords. Sometimes a jokester is just an ass.
